G reat to be back on air in the week following the inauguration….

I felt it was my duty to raise the mood so I put together an upbeat playlist but had to include a few protest songs to give us some balance.

I’m on the radio every Monday from 20:00 – 22:00 UK time and am always happy to get your feedback on the music I play each week  – please leave a comment.

Saturday 28th January 2017 8pm (doors 7:30) Sutton Benger Village Hall.

An audience with Phil Beer has been described as a glimpse into his world where folk, blues, hymns, the sea, the West Country and a life spent in music combine to make a true show. A Phil Beer gig is one spent in the company of a true craftsman, a master musician and consummate performer.

Tickets £14 in advance.

It was great to be back on the air after the technical gremlins that put a stop to last week’s show were banished…

This week I have an exclusive track from Rebecca Loebe’s new album “Blink” that is due for release in early February 2017. I have a pre-release copy and it’s a good ‘un. I’ll be reviewing it closer to the release date.

I saw husband & wife folk duo Megson at the weekend in Sutton Benger at an event organised by Black Duck Folk. I played a track called “Generation Rent” from their latest album, “Good Times Will Come Again” that I bought at the gig.

White Horse Whispers supported Megson at Sutton Benger on Saturday at an event organised by Black Duck Folk and very good they were too.

No featured album this week – waiting for the new Kings of Leon CD which will be released on Friday 14th.

We had a bit of a reggae feel to the start of the show, that went into Americana overdrive in the middle and ended rocking out to Sleater Kinney.

This week my featured album is “Real” by Lydia Loveless. You can buy it from my shop on Amazon or from BandCamp. Take a look at the video of Lydia and the band performing “Longer” on CBS This Morning.

The show also featured new music from The Kills’ new CD Ash & Ice & Bastille’s Wild World. We also heard classic tracks by Genesis and Hawkwind.

We were in fancy dress tonight … OK, I managed to find a rocking wig…. Sidekick went to the hairdresser.

Once again, I was joined by Sidekick Steve and I gave in and played a few prog’ish tracks to keep him quiet.

This week I spotlighted the new album from Kings of Leon.

We also had new music from Bastille, Jamie T and Hiss Golden Messenger.

This was backed up by classic tracks from the Staple Singers, James Brown and Jamiroquai.
